Mazda CX-5 horn stopped working

my neighbor's got a 2016 Mazda CX-5, and the horn just stopped working

I wanted to help and was poking around under the hood, I found a loose wire or plug, but I'm not sure if it's even for the horn.

If that's not the culprit, what else could be causing the problem? He's already checked the fuse, and it looks fine. Any ideas on what else he should check?

Could be the horn relay or the horn itself going bad, those are pretty common. If the fuse is fine, try swapping the relay with another one in the box to test it. Also check the ground connection near the horn. A loose or corroded ground can kill it too. Hope this helps

A friend of mine had a similar problem and we tried everything you said only to find the switch on the steering wheel decided to give up on life. @M4zdap3ace that's another recommendation about something you might want to check.

I ran into that with a buddy's 2016 CX-5, loose connector by the grille was the horn lead. If that's not it, next step is the relay or the horn unit itself, they do fail sometimes.
